find me elsewhere:

Hi there! Welcome to our blog, a showcase of articles we are featured in, experiences, wedding, and travel tips. Stay a while and say hello!

Hi, I'm Claire.

What if it rains on my wedding ?

Our Tips

Did you know rain on your wedding day is good luck because it means that your mariage will last.
As you know, a knot that becomes wet is extremely hard to untie – therefore, when you “tie the knot”on a rainy day, your marriage is supposedly just as hard to unravel!”

But let’s be honest here… Rain doesn’t come as good news when you are expecting a hundred guests and you have been counting on the sunshine of Provence for you big day.

As wedding planners for years, we have had to deal with rainy days, sometimes even storms (yes, even in the South of France).
So here are a few tips to make the most of your day despite of the bad weather.

Trust your planner and your wedding vendors, they are here for you!

We know.. You are gutted and disappointed, and trust us, so are we!!
And if we don’t feel responsible for the rain, we do feel responsible for the success of the event and the comfort of your guests.

As much as we want to make you happy, we cannot take the risk to set up outside if there is a chance for rain, and even if you are convinced that “the sky will clear up for sure!”.
Our role as wedding planners is to deliver a successful event that everybody will enjoy, and for all the vendors to be able to deliver their services properly and according to their contract.

We cannot have guests getting wet and cold, nor rentals and technical equipments getting damaged.
But be assured that your vendors team will go the extra mile to please you and make your day magical!

Always have a plan B ready that you like!

As a wedding professional, it is essential to us to have not only a plan B, but a good one!
No matter where and when your wedding is taking place, the risk of rain is never 0.

That’s why it is so important to plan secondary options at the same time as planning the main option, which also allows you to not be caught off guard and have a plan B that doesn’t disappoint to plan A.

Even J-Lo had to use her plan B because of the rain at her wedding! And the pictures looked amazing!

Always remember that this is the day you are marrying the love of your life, surrounded by your loved ones. A little rain shouldn’t ruin the day.
There are several options for Plan B depending on the location and the number of guests.

Indoors

If it rains all day and nothing can be done outside, you should ideally have at least 2 rooms available to do everything indoors (ceremony, cocktail, dinner and party). If only the dinner and the party are to be done indoors, then one room is sufficient.

This option should only be considered if the venue has rooms large enough to accommodate all your guests.

A beautiful wedding tent

We’re not talking about the backpacking tent, but a sublime, luxurious bohemian-style tent or even a glass conservatory.
The tents can usually accommodate up to 300 guests and can be customized in many ways (parquet floor, starry sky, dance floor…)
This option is often the plan A as it looks so good. It also allows to protect from the wind, and during chilly evenings will protect you from the cold.

Provide accessories for the rain and wear your best smile

White umbrellas, heel guards, or shawls for warmth.. These accessories can be part of your wedding details and will show your guests how much you care for them!

And don’t forget to wear your best smile! One of the key to success for the event is you and the energy you bring to your day.
We will never say it enough, smile and enjoy your day, it all goes so quickly!!
